I felt compelled to write this post as I am still hearing so many females say that lifting weights will make someone manly? They avoid any kind of weight training as they don't want to look bulky, and are scared to put on muscle in case they look too 'hench'. I'm here to set the record straight for any of you that may have had these thoughts.

Firstly, I want to stress that having muscles is not the definition of looking 'manly', and I don't actually agree with the statement. Some men choose not to have muscle mass, some can not put on muscle mass, and therefore it is no d...

My fitness philosophy is something that I feel strongly about and something that I encourage others to follow! Here are six things to ensure that you are on the way to a great fitness journey!

1. Progress Not Perfection

By this I mean not focusing on being perfect now or ever. It is so much better for you to focus on the progress you are making and the progress you have made so far! Focusing on trying to be perfect, often leads to us comparing ourselves to others and not realising, that what are doing already is enough! What even is perfect? Allow yourself to recognise you...

I've been asked many times my thoughts on Ketosis, whether I think it's good for fat loss, whether I have tried it myself, what it actually is... the list is endless! I had a recent question on Instagram about it and it spurred me on to create this blog post to actually let people know what it is, why people do it and to help people understand it's pro's and con's!

So what is Ketosis?

Firstly it should be worth pointing out that the primary source of energy for our body is Glucose - which is found in carbohydrate. This is then stored as glycogen, to be used as glucose late...

You have all heard of the 'zone'. We've all been in the zone at one point or another whether it is before a workout, competition or when we are just trying to get through a difficult task. But what actually is the zone?

Well according to Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, the former head of psychology at the University of Chicago, this mental state is called 'Flow'. Apparently it doesn't occur all the time, or every workout for example, but occurs at specific times where there is an interception between a high level of challenge and skill.

So how do you get into this 'flow' or into...

I opened a Q&A across my social media channels and am really pleased with some of the questions that I was asked! I love Q&A's as I find that its a chance for people to ask stuff that they wouldn't just ask out of the blue, its a safe space! I hope you enjoy my answers and if you have any of your own then just ask away in the comments or on my social media platforms and I will answer straight away!

What made you want to get into fitness blogging?  Question by @physicalboss.

A few years ago, I started to document a lot of my workouts via >> YouTu...

What to have in your gym bag is a fab question and of course the answer will be different for everyone. However I have a few must have's to go in it that I wanted to share with you! These are particularly perfect if you head straight to the gym before or after work and need a freshen up!

1. A gym towel - Perfect for either wiping down the machines, or for your own forehead when your sweating.

2. A Cap - When you have greasy hair and know the gym session is only going to make it worse!

3. A notepad and pen - This one is from Coconut Lane and is perfect to record your weights...

September 11, 2017

I've seen plenty of things claim to take inches of your waist and make you drop lbs of weight overnight. Waist Trainers are supposed to make your waist smaller by not only shifting the placement of fat but by making you lose pounds through sweat. I am dubious of all these sorts of claims from the wide variety of 'quick fixes' and in all honesty don't believe any could work in the long term whatsoever.

My opinions aside however, there is evidently a lot of people that do believe in these processes, and therefore I felt that before dismissing them completely, I should put m...

It's the most asked question at the moment; how can I make my bum bigger? The only answer I can give you is, HARD WORK! It's not going to happen overnight and in my skinny ass case, not in a year! However with persistence it will grow.

August 12, 2017

A lot of you may already know about my transformation from skinny to strong. But I don't open up too much about the struggles that have come with this. I don't mean the hard work in the gym (and the bruises, and injuries), but the mental state, the preconceptions, the stereotyping etc.

I guess the first thing that people don't realise is that despite being slim and athletic now instead of bony, I still find it hard to love my body 100%. I get complimented on my figure a lot, and am told how lucky I am to fit into size 4's, to be able to wear tight clothes without a worry...

I guess the answer to whether calorie restriction is worth it all comes down to how far you take it. In my opinion the word restriction isn't a great one. I don't think you should 'restrict' anything from your diet, you should simply have things in moderation and by including ALL foods, your having a balanced diet!

Whether were talking about lowering calories, cutting out certain foods or changing the way we eat there are certainly some do's and dont's that are worth discussing! The biggest thing I think people seem to hold onto is that if they eat less they will lose fat....
