I thought this would be a great post for people that are due to have a laparoscopy but are unsure of what to expect. There is no point in sugar coating what it's like, so i'm here to tell the truth as always!

Firstly, if you have not seen my previous blog post on tips for preparing yourself then check it out here >> POST <<.

Nerves

Nerves are one of those things that even if you have had tons of operations, I feel will always be sitting there somewhere in your mind. I've actually had 4 general anaesthetics now and I still get nerves. These first occur when your told...

One of the most frequent questions I get asked is; What snacks can I eat while i'm trying to eat well?

I always try my best to recommend great options to people and often find alternatives to their usual crisps and chocolate, but often people complain that they feel carrot sticks, handful of nuts and some rice cakes are bland and boring.  This then means that they find them selves reaching for the chocolate again!

In my gluten free quest to find snacks that are yummy, good for you and that are easy and convenient to eat; I found Nakd and Trek. Both brands are under t...

Recently I wrote a blog post about Endometriosis and how leading a Gluten Free life can actually help with pain management! So I went on a search for foods that I could have daily, that would not upset my stomach or give me more pain!

I stumbled across Venice Bakery online when hunting for Gluten Free foods and I was so pleased to find these guys as I really didn't think I had many options available to me when looking at supermarket free from ranges.

Venice Bakery itself has over 50 years of experience in making free from products, and having come over from America, have...

What is Chronic Pain? Well simply put it is pain that lasts for a long period of time; months, years, a lifetime. For some people, this means being signed off work, bed bound and depressed.

For me, chronic pain is just part of my life and has been for many years! Being diagnosed with Endometriosis and Hypermobility Syndrome explained to me the reason why daily I am unwell. Daily pain is not fun, and by daily pain I mean exactly that... pain every damn day.

Headaches and migraines, muscular aches, stomach pains, bowel problems, severe fatigue, the feeling that you can't mo...

I've been asked many times my thoughts on Ketosis, whether I think it's good for fat loss, whether I have tried it myself, what it actually is... the list is endless! I had a recent question on Instagram about it and it spurred me on to create this blog post to actually let people know what it is, why people do it and to help people understand it's pro's and con's!

So what is Ketosis?

Firstly it should be worth pointing out that the primary source of energy for our body is Glucose - which is found in carbohydrate. This is then stored as glycogen, to be used as glucose late...

Bloating, Sharp Pains, Fatigue - all signs of endometriosis. However these are also signs of eating gluten. In my quest to rid myself from my endometriosis pain and to lead a more pain free life, I have been researching into the effects of a gluten free diet on endometriosis.

Firstly for those who are new to my blog; I was diagnosed with endometriosis many many years ago and since have tried every pill going. I was given the Mirena Coil about 6 years ago and have had two laparoscopy's, one with diathermy. Since my last operation I am still in pain daily, I still am bloate...

October is Lupus awareness month and so it seemed fitting to write a blog post to not only raise the awareness but to look into the ways that it can be treated. My mother has Lupus and so over the years have had a great deal of interest in finding out whether it can be helped or hindered by even the smallest amount of exercise.

So what is Lupus?

Lupus is an illness of the immune system meaning that the body's defence mechanism begins to attack itself through an excess of antibodies in the blood stream, consequently causing inflammation and damage to the muscles, joints and...

For women with Endometriosis, a laparoscopy is the normal way to get diagnosed and also treated. I've now just had my second! The first was when I was about 17 and it was to see whether I had endometriosis for definite. They found it within the pelvic wall, however my only form of treatment at this point was the Mirena Coil which releases progesterone in order to suppress the growth of the endometriosis. About 6 years on, another coil later and with constant pain and bleeding I've had another laparoscopy in which they have found endometriosis in the POD (pouch of douglas)...

Essential Oils have been around since the ancient times, yet I have not tried them until now! I've heard of them a lot especially in terms of helping with sleep but it's not something that I have experienced or tried.

The idea of being able to relax, heal and stay healthy from the drop of an oil, whilst not spending a lot of money seems to be a win win and something that everyone should experience! Working with athletes I know that sleep is so important when training and competing and recovering is essential to performance. Being able to recommend a more holistic therapy...

I'm a healthy 23 year old and wouldn't suggest that my gut is 'unhealthy' nor would I expect that I would need to use a supplement to improve my gut bacteria! However, it seems there is benefits to anyone of any age in using this sort of supplement!

If you watched BBC's 'The Truth About Sleep' last night (if not catch up on IPlayer) then you will have seen Bimuno featured! I was pleased to see it on the programme being tested as its something I am currently trying out myself! The programme suggested that one dose a day of this tasteless white powder blended into a coffee...
